CANACONA: Badal NaikGaunkar and Raju S Naikgaunkar won the contest for the post of Attorney and President of Canacona communidade.
Badal Naik Gaonkar-(193) won by 07 votes defeating strong contender Samrat Bhagat (186) for the post of Attorney, Raju who polled 209 votes defeated Sanju Naik Gaonkar (157) by a margin of 20 votes Vinay Hari Naik Desai -(209) defeated Shamrao Naik Gaonkar (157) by a largest margin of 52 votes amongst the three top posts of Canacona Communidade.
The voting was conducted today under the Communidade Administrators Office Election Officer Uday Naik Gaunkar, Presiding Officer Shripad Pagi, and Assistant Officer Narendra Desai of Margao Administrators Officer were present on the occasion.
Out of the total 492 members of the Canacona Comunidade 395 voted, at a percentage of 80.28 percent.
The elections were conducted at the polling station in Kashipurush Hall of Shri Mallikarjun Devasthan as the voting process started between 10 am and the results were declared by late evening around 7 pm.
According to sources, for the posts of The Alternate Committee) for the post of President – Raghuraj Naik Gawkar-(215) won by 137 votes against Shamrao Desai (79 votes), while Alternate Attorney Mahabaleshwar Desai and Alternate-Treasurer – Narayan Desai are declared elected unopposed.
