Goa has 5,853 registered cooperative societies, according to government data. Of these, financial details are available for 2,489 societies, with 1,746 reporting profits and 743 reporting losses. Financial information is unavailable for the remaining 3,357 societies. The records also indicate that 696 societies are non-functional. Team Goemkarponn BARDEZ: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified food safety surveillance across Bardez, inspecting 11 restaurants and chicken slaughter units as part of its ongoing enforcement measures. Following the inspections, six units were directed to suspend operations after the compliance submitted in response to earlier inspections was found to be inadequate. The concerned premises will remain closed until the identified deficiencies are fully rectified and the required compliance is verified by the FDA. The case, Cr. No. 57/2026, was registered under Sections 305 and 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, following a complaint by Joao Pires, 47, a self-employed resident of Jesus Nazareth, Siridao.
