Team Goemkarponn PANAJI: A Sattari resident was detained by the Bicholim police on Friday for allegedly defrauding five people of Rs 21.5 lakh under the guise of obtaining government jobs, bringing yet another incidence of job fraud to the state’s headlines. Sheetal Sawal of Mauliguem in Bicholim taluka filed a complaint on Friday, alleging that Manikrao Rane of Rawan, Keri in Sattari taluka had scammed her and her neighbors, Pooja Yende, Dinesh Gaonkar, Abhishek Dhuri, and Satywan Gaonkar, out of Rs 21.5 lakh. Team Goemkarponn PANAJI: The second assistant account officer of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Panaji, Pankaj Kumar, was detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Anti-Corruption Branch, on suspicion of bribery. Team Goemkarponn PANAJI: Under the road safety yearly plan, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a tender of Rs 34.22 crore for the construction of a flyover at the Dhargal, Pernem blackspot. In accordance with the Road Safety Annual Plan 2024–2025, MoRTH has requested bids for the building of a flyover at Dhargal from km 494.418 to km 494.548 on Nh 66 in order to correct blackspot ID No.013 (2016 18 Series) on EPC mode. The project must be finished in 540 days, or 1.5 years.

Team Goemkarponn PANAJI: A 29-year-old Tanzanian national was taken into custody by the Mapusa Police on Friday for allegedly remaining in Goa for too long. Police said that Agata Costantino Unija, the accused, was apprehended for entering the state without a valid passport or visa. According to authorities, she was arrested in Bhatiwado-Parra. Section 6(a) of the Passport (Entry Into India) Rule 1950 and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946 have been used to register an offense.

Team Goemkarponn MERCES: A 34-year-old maid from Karnataka who lives in Candolim has been arrested by Old Goa Police on suspicion of stealing gold ornaments valued at Rs 5 lakh from a Mestabhat-Merces apartment.
