Goemkarponn desk DHANDEM: A goods train in Sanvordem mowed down fifteen buffaloes on the railroad track at Dhandem. The incident happened early on Wednesday morning. The train driver used the emergency brake when he saw the herd of buffaloes squatting on the track, but because the train was moving at 60 kmph, it took some time to stop, and 12 buffaloes were mowed down to death, according to Meraj Ghaffar, the technical section in charge of the Curchorem railway station. Goemkarponn desk PANAJI: Haryana native Manjit Tomar accused of killing receptionist of a boutique hotel in Ximer, Candolim in 2016 has been sentenced to life imprisonment by North Goa Principal District and Sessions Court in Panaji. 33-year-old Manjit has also been sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs one lakh for destroying evidence. Tomar had stabbed to death 38-year-old George Raju Mandal from Kolkata who worked as a receptionist, while he was at the hotels reception desk.
