CANACONA: The post-mortem examination of two sisters found dead inside their house at Mokhard, Sristhal, Canacona, has remained inconclusive, with the Police Surgeon unable to give an opinion on the cause of death due to advanced decomposition of the bodies.
Rekha Kamat, 73, and Medha Kamat, 70, both unmarried and residing together, were found dead inside their residence on September 20 after a foul smell was noticed coming from the house.
Following the post-mortem examination at SGDH, Margao, the Police Surgeon certified that there was “no opinion” regarding the cause of death in view of the advanced decomposition changes. Samples of visceral organs from both bodies have been preserved and sent for chemical analysis.
Police had earlier found a suicide note and a bottle of clinic spirit inside the bedroom. A local Panch member also told police that one of the sisters had spoken to him around eight days earlier and reportedly said that they were frustrated with their lives.
Police conducted the UD occurrence and inquest panchanamas before sending the bodies for post-mortem examination. The bodies were later handed over to the family for final religious rites.
Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Ramdas Doifode of Canacona Police Station.
