PONDA: Ponda Court has granted anticipatory bail to Banastari horrific accident car owner Meghana Savordekar.
“There is no material to hold that applicant has any role in alleged crime as police have produced nothing against applicant despite opportunity,” the court observed.
The Mercedes Benz SUV registered in Meghana’s name had rammed into multiple vehicles at Banastarim bridge on August 6, where couple Suresh and Bhavana Fadte from Divar lost their lives, while a young man Arup Karmakar died in the accident.
Three others were seriously injured in the accident. Eyewitnesses had said that Meghana was in the driver’s seat when the accident took place.
Her husband Paresh Sinai Savordekar who was arrested for rash and negligent driving, under the influence of alcohol was granted bail yesterday.
The Court also accepted her oath that ‘she is innocent,’ law-abiding citizen and has no criminal antecedents.
“I have no reason to doubt the applicant’s statement which is confirmed on Oath by filing her affidavit. I hold that applicant has a clean past criminal antecedent,” the order copy stated.
Among a set of conditions, she is directed to not tamper with evidence, not influence witnesses, cooperate with the investigation, and should not leave India without Court permission.
