PONDA: Bhoma locals on Wednesday gheraoed Bhoma Adkolna Sarpanch over land acquisition notices by NH and warned to stage massive agitation if Panchayat allows permission for NH widening.
Following notices to around 64 houses for NH road widening at Bhoma, the locals held series of meeting and also submitted their objections to PWD, NH at Altino Panaji.
Sanjay Naik said villagers are irked as the NH officials told the villagers to submitt their documents of land and take their compensation the villagers were irked.
Villagers demanded plan of NH widening. Later they met PWD, NH officials at Ponda.
As the villagers did not get NH widening alignment plan at Bhoma the villagers rushed to Bhoma Panchayat and geroaved Sarpanch Damodar Naik and grilled him over issue.
The villagers are upset that they were initially silenced by saying only four houses would be displaced but now 64 villagers received notices and this means the Panchayat was failed to clarify them on issue leaving them in dark and also failed to make demand for bypass.
They urged Sarpanch Damodar Naik to rally behind villagers and also henceforth do all necessary correspondence with NH authority demanding for bypass at Bhoma.
The villagers are irked over fact that Goa government sent only one plan of widening of existing NH road and failed to sent alternative bypass alignment plans.
Sanjay Naik said there is bypass shown on regional plan but this alignment was not sent for Central government as there is vested interest of builders and landlords.
Meanwhile the Bhoma Villagers filed petition in HC asking for stay on NH widening at Bhoma. The villagers have decided to stage a massive agitation over issue.
