MARGAO: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar’s inexperience was out in the open when the BJP State Spokesperson Giriaj Pai Vernekar exposed his lack of knowledge on various issues.
Ahead of National Games inauguration, GPCC president took to “X” in a bid to hit out at BJP government.
He said the BJP Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Games at a stadium built by Congress.
“Once again @BJP4Goa Govt proved their failure as they couldn’t even built a new stadium for #NationalGames. Today Modi Ji will realise what @INCIndia Govt built for so many years when he will officially launch #NationalGamesGoa2023 from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda,” wrote Patkar on his X handle.
This did not go well with the BJP, whose spokesperson Giriraj Pai Vernekar called him inexperienced and lack of knowledge.
“People call him inexperienced in @INCGoa, and he often proves it. Despite @BJP4Goa’s significant work since 2012 in enhancing sports infra, it’s disheartening to see @amitspatkar play politics over the pride of hosting National Games. Stick to facts, not petty politics,” he said.
Further, he wrote, “Since 2012, we’ve built or upgraded several stadiums: the Athletic stadium at Bambolim, Dr S P Mookerjee stadium at Dona Paula, transformed PNJ Fatorda stadium to world-class standards, to name a few. List is very long. Please stay informed rather than showcasing ignorance”.
This was tongue in cheek moment for GPCC president who has many a times been caught on wrong foot with his inexperience.
