JAIPUR:
A day after Rajasthan’s Jaipur was shaken up by threats to bomb the airport and hospitals, at least eight schools in the Pink City received threat emails on Monday, reported news agency PTI.
Schools authorities immediately informed the police and evacuated students and staff members. Police teams promptly arrived at the scene, along with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs.
DCP East Jaipur Kavendra Sagar told news agency ANI, “Threatening emails have been sent to some schools of the city including Maheshwari School (MPS International School). Currently, the bomb disposal squad is carrying out searches in the school.”
After about an hour of searches, no suspicious objects were discovered at any of the schools that received bomb threats, police sources said.
The threat was given by email and a team is trying to identify the sender, police said.
On May 13, 2008, Jaipur was rocked by a series of synchronised bombings that took place in the span of 15 minutes. The blasts claimed the lives of 71 people and left more than 180 injured. Incidentally, today marks the 16th anniversary of the Jaipur serial bombings.
Meanwhile, a few schools in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, also received a bomb threat via email. Students at Vibgyor School in Gomti Nagar were evacuated, and an investigation is on.
