BARDEZ: A 34-year-old man from Calangute died after meeting with a self-accident near Velankanni Chapel at Karrem, Socorro, police said.
According to police, a wireless message was received from the Casualty Police Cell of GMC Bambolim on April 29, 2026, at around 8:33 pm informing that the victim, identified as John Paul Fernandes, son of Joao Baptista Fernandes and resident of Gaura Vaddo, Calangute, had expired while undergoing treatment in Ward 120.
Police enquiry revealed that the accident occurred at around 5:30 am when John Paul Fernandes was riding a Yamaha RX 135 motorcycle bearing registration number GA-03-M-0832 near Velankanni Chapel at Karrem, Socorro.
During the incident, the rider reportedly lost control and dashed against a roadside tree, sustaining grievous injuries.
He was shifted for medical treatment to GMC Bambolim, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Further investigation into the case is being conducted by IO Akash Chodankar.
