CANACONA: Canacona Police have registered a case following a complaint by Nitesh Sudhir of Poiguinim, Canacona, alleging that he was cheated of ₹1,85,570 after being befriended on Facebook by a person identified as Arya Naik.
According to the complaint, the incident took place between January 1 and September 6, 2026, at Poiguinim, Canacona. The accused allegedly contacted the complainant through Facebook and subsequently communicated with him on WhatsApp.
Police said the accused allegedly sought financial assistance on the pretext that his father had met with a serious accident and promised to return the money. The complainant allegedly transferred a total of ₹1,85,570 through UPI transactions on different occasions.
The complaint states that despite the assurances, the accused allegedly failed to return the money.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Vishal Velip of Canacona Police Station.
