MARGAO: A 38-year-old man was found dead at his residence in Rumdamol, Davorlim, Salcete, in an apparent case of suicide, police said.
The incident came to light on September 21, 2026, after SGDH Margao received information at around 11.08 pm that Uday Harijan, a resident of Rumdamol, had been brought to the hospital in an unresponsive condition.
According to police, family members told investigators that they found the door of Harijan’s room locked from inside and, after gaining entry, found him unresponsive. He was subsequently shifted to SGDH Margao in a 108 ambulance, where the duty doctor declared him brought dead.
During the preliminary inquiry, police said the apparent reason was financial stress related to unemployment and difficulty in repaying pending loans.
Police conducted the necessary UD occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama. The body has been preserved at SGDH Margao for further medico-legal formalities.
