CANACONA: Rallies, Prayer Services and Celebrations were held across Canacona taluka as people commemorated the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Shri Ramlalla in the newly built Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya.
As the idol of Ram Lalla is inaugurated in Ayodhya today, there was excitement among the devotees of Shri Rama. Several Rama devotees had prepared cut outs of Sri Rama and these cutouts were erected in the square by adding colorful lights to those cutouts. Orange colored flags were put up in the main market. Padyatras were taken with the Cutouts and images of Ramlalla mounted on the vehicles across the various villages in the taluka.
Progressive Canconkars from all religions spontaneously participated in large numbers in various rallies, processions and various other functions organized in Canacona on the auspicious occasions of “Ram Pran Pratishtha” ceremony. Canconkars from diverse societal sectors who participated in ceremonies loudly chanted “Jai Shri Ram” welcoming the opening of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The atmosphere during “Ram Pran Pratishtha” ceremony was electrifying and the enthusiasm, devoutness among Canconkars was overflowing on this occasion.
Hindu, Muslim, Catholics of Canacona unitedly and spontaneously participated in all functions organized on occasions of “Ram Pran Pratishtha” ceremony loudly chanting Jai Shri Ram. Natvidade De Sa, Sherafine Fernandes, Aktar Sharadin, Imtiyaz Shaikh abd many other people of Minority Community willingly participated in various ceremony’s and went on to applauded their Hindu brethren for the grand opening of Ram Mandir and Installation of Ram Idol at Ayodhaya..
The procession of Chariot was taken out in the municipal area, starting from Canacona Kadamba Bus Stand. At first Canacona MLA and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar and CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar started the procession by offering floral garlands to the image of Lord Rama.
CMC Vice Chariperson Narciso Fernandes, Councillors Dhiraj Naik Gaonkar, Sara Desai, Goa State BJP Secretary Sarvanand Bhagat, South Goa Vice President Mahesh Naik, Canacona BJP Mandal President Vishal Desai, Sarpanch of various Panchayats, Also present were Congress Party leader Janardhan Bhandari, GCA Vice President Shamba Desai, Babesh Borkar, Shri Mallikarjun Devalaya Committee President Vithoba Desai, Pankaj Naik Gaonkar and others.
The procession reached the Shree Maruti Gumti at Chawdi and then moved around the entire municipal area. Thousands of Shriram devotees participated in this procession. At the intersection, Rama’s image was worshiped by Suhasini (Woemn) with a lamp. The traders of the Rajasthani community today kept their shops completely closed and participated in this procession. Rajasthan Samaj Samiti donated 51 thousand rupees for successfully organizing such a procession.
Amidst sounds of Dhol Tanshe team at Poinguinim, every corner were seen to full of glory. of Pujas, at Shree Maruti Devalaya. After the pooja, and distribution of Teertha Prasad, served Mahaprasad food for about one thousand devotees.
In the evening session, a Dindi procession was taken out on foot from Chawdi to Shristhal Mallikarjuna Devalaya by the organized Sanghatit Kankonkars.
A two-wheeler procession was taken out in Canacona today by various communities. The whole of Canacona taluka turned saffron today even as the Youths from every location in cluding Patenm, Rajbagh Youth Nagarcem, Devabhag, Agonda, took out a procession wearing saffron clothes. Also in the procession taken out at Chawdi, shepherds dressed as Sriram, Sitamai, Lakshmana, Marutiraya participated.
Processions and padhyatra’s with Chariots were taken out from Shri Partagal Mutt, and other temples of Poinguinim, besides, Maxem, Galgibaga, Shristhal, Agonda, Khola with many of the processions visited the interior localities.
The non-availability of Sri Rama flags in the market today has however curbed the enthusiasm of some devotees to some extent. As Ramotsav was to be celebrated today, various programs were celebrated in roughly around 75 big and small temples/Gomti’s in all over Canacona. Ram devotees participated in various programs like chanting of Ram, chanting of mantras, bhajans, Hanuman Chalisa Pathan, amongst other devotional rituals.
