PANAJI: The BJP has urged the public to see the truth behind the opposition party members who are disparaging Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his family in connection with the “cash-for-jobs” scam.
The opposition, according to the BJP’s state unit, has no evidence linking Sawant or his family to this scheme and is slandering him in order to damage his reputation.
Recently, AAP Goa president Amit Palekar and Aam Admi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh attempted to connect Sawant’s family to the “scam.” Singh claimed that “jobs are being sold for bribes in Goa” and that the government is afraid to let an outside agency handle the inquiry.
Both Singh and Palekar, who made the accusation during a news conference in New Delhi, are currently free on bail and are being charged with crimes, including tampering with the evidence, according to the BJP.
According to Subhash Phal Dessai, Minister of Social Welfare, the BJP wants to expose their falsehoods and divisive opposition rather than pursue a defamation lawsuit.
Giriraj Vernekar, the party’s state spokesperson, stated that if the opposition leaders don’t exercise self-control, the BJP will have to consider all of its alternatives, including legal ones.
In response to a query, Phal Dessai stated that the Staff Selection Commission was established by the Chief Minister and has already posted 280 clerical-level positions that will be filled in an open way.
In response to another query, Vernekar stated that the sextortion scheme involving an opposition MLA and the Rs 100 crore Fatorda to London fraud should be the first problems addressed by the Goan opposition leaders.
“We are concerned that our children’s safety may be jeopardized if such an MLA attends the assembly sessions,” he stated.
