PANAJI: The Goa Premier Division League witnessed high intensity action as Goa Cricket Association fixtures delivered standout individual performances and gripping contests. In a key encounter at the Porvorim academy ground, Chowgule Sports Club secured a convincing four wicket win over Margao Cricket Club, booking their place in the tournament final within two days.
Margao’s decision to bat first proved costly as they were bowled out for just 101 runs. Shubham Tari led the charge with a brilliant six wicket haul, dismantling the batting lineup. Chowgule responded strongly, posting 246 runs, with Gauresh Kambli scoring a steady half century to establish a commanding lead.
Margao fought back in the second innings through an exceptional knock by Aryan Narvekar, who scored 154 runs in an aggressive display filled with boundaries and sixes. His effort helped set a target of 145. However, Chowgule maintained composure in the chase, with Kambli and Pradnesh Gaonkar contributing crucial half centuries to guide their team to victory.
At another venue, the clash between Panjim Gymkhana and Dempo Cricket Club remains finely balanced. After Panjim were bowled out for 143, Dempo gained the upper hand with a total of 266, powered by Snehal Kauthankar’s century. Despite a remarkable five wicket spell by Abhinandan Thakur, Panjim have staged a recovery in the second innings, reaching 184 for five and holding a narrow lead heading into the final day.
Meanwhile, a high scoring contest unfolded at Sankhali between Salgaocar Cricket Club and Geno Sports Club. Salgaocar declared at 351 for eight, led by captain Yash Kasavankar’s century. Geno responded strongly, reaching 349 for nine, falling just short. Kasavankar also impressed with the ball, delivering a notable all round performance.
With matches poised on a knife edge and standout individual displays, the league continues to build excitement as teams push for supremacy.
