PORVORIM: Minister for Environment & Climate Change Nilesh Cabral informed the house that the current coal transportation permitted will not be exceeded.
“The government does not wish to go against the order of the Supreme Court of India on the three linear projects; coal transportation permitted at present will not be exceeded,” said Cabral.
Opposition MLA Vijai Sardesai claimed that the government is going ahead with the double-tracking project to increase coal transportation.
Speaking on Tamnar, Cabral said regarding the laying of power lines as per the recommendation of the Central EmpoweredCommittee (CEC) and order of the Supreme Court, the Right of way(ROW) o existing 220KV Ambewadi Ponda and110KVdefunct Supa line will be used. Multi-circuit multi-voltage lattice towers will be utilized, carrying both new400KVXNlineofGTTPL (Goa Tamnar TransmissionLimited) and the existing 200 KVAmbewadi Pondaline.
“After Recommendation of CEC to the Court, the Regional Officer, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change, Bengaluru has accorded Stage 1 approval for the Four laning project fromkm.84/133(Anmod) to km.97/00 (Mollem),” said Cabral.
The minister said that the Payment towards NPA value and compensatory Afforestation is processed to RO Mumbai for Stage II approval, i.e. Diversion of Forest land. After due permission from the Ministry, the land acquisition proceedings are initiated for the balance of Land required for the project.
