COLVALE: Colvale Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the theft of concealed electrical wires worth ₹83,437 from an under-construction house at Madel, Thivim, Bardez.
The case was registered as Crime No. 63/2026 under Sections 331(2) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at 5.59 pm on August 8, 2026, following a complaint lodged by Vishnu Mahadeshwar, a resident of Angad Wado, Mapusa.
According to the complaint, the theft occurred during the intervening night of August 4 and 5 at Plot No. 462/3-A-1, Madel, Thivim. An unidentified person allegedly gained entry into the under-construction house after breaking open the lock fitted to the main door.
The accused allegedly stole several types of concealed electrical wires and electrical components. The stolen material included 1 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.5 mm and 4 mm wires, along with a 6-way TPN unit and other electrical wiring, with the total loss estimated at ₹83,437.
During the investigation, Colvale Police arrested Mehafuj Ali Sarkar, 21, son of Osman Ali Sarkar, a resident of Shrinathbali, Jahangirpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal. He was arrested at 10.14 pm on August 8.
The investigation is being conducted by PSI Swanand Prabhu of Colvale Police Station.
