PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar today said that he is confident of getting back the vote share, which got split during recent polls, resulting in Party’s defeat.
Today, the Congress party held a meeting with all office bearers, including Goa Desk Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao to strengthen the Party.
“67 per cent of the Goans are against the BJP and the state government but definitely yes, a political party, I do not want to name it, have taken our vacuum of vote share, and we will work together to bring it back,” said Patkar.
He further said that his focus would be to get that votes back to Congress and strengthen the Party.
“I want to tell that in about 26 constituencies, the vote share of the Congress is about 34.5 per cent, and our full focus will be to hold on these constituencies,” he added.
Patkar also said that the mantra of the Party should be to reach people. “We will need to visit people again and regain their trust. Let us build the Party from the grass-root level. We will have a vibrant opposition party in Goa for a vibrant State,” he said.
AICC Goa, in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao said that a new beginning is taking place. “We have gone through difficult times but have not lost our spirit. Today we are stronger than before. Now people realise that only the Congress party can defeat BJP. We will be a vibrant opposition in the State,” he said.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo said that his support and guidance will be there for GPCC chief Amit Patkar and working President Yuri Alemao for reviving the Party at the grass-root level.
