“The people opposed the project, and we still continue to oppose it, but the project proponent is hell-bent on taking the project and taking it up at all cost. The old panchayat body, along with people, has managed to stop the project. We still have many mega projects lined up in the pipeline, and we will continue to condemn such projects and try to safeguard the village against destruction. This is one reason why we have been forced to contest elections, and we are confident that the people will get us elected,” said Xavier.
