New Delhi:
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the Bollywood community and raised concerns about safety in Mumbai, actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times during a burglary attempt at his residence in the upscale Bandra area. The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, involved a violent altercation with the intruder and has left many questioning the security measures in place for high-profile residents.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured the public that the police have gathered several crucial clues and are confident of apprehending the culprit soon. Despite this incident, Fadnavis reiterated that Mumbai remains one of the safest cities in the country, though it has sparked a broader discussion on safety and security.
Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by an intruder who broke into his 11th-floor flat in the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building around 2:30 AM on Thursday. The intruder entered the room of Khan’s younger son, Jehangir, where he confronted the actor after demanding ₹1 crore from the staff.
During the scuffle, Khan sustained deep injuries, including a 2.5-inch wound near his spine and another on his neck. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. The medical team has confirmed that Khan is out of danger and on the path to recovery.
CCTV footage revealed the intruder’s meticulous plan, showing him using the stairs to avoid security cameras and fleeing the building through the rear gate. The footage also captured the suspect changing his clothes before escaping, which has been a key point in the investigation.
Mumbai Police deployed 20 teams to track down the suspect, who was eventually arrested after a thorough manhunt. The police identified the suspect through clear CCTV images showing him descending the stairs with a wooden stick and a long Hexa blade.
The incident has highlighted significant security lapses in the building, as the intruder managed to bypass the security measures with ease. The police are investigating whether the intruder had any inside help or if there were other motives beyond burglary.
Saif Ali Khan’s family, including his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two children, were present in the home during the attack. Kareena Kapoor Khan has appealed to the media to respect their privacy as they navigate this challenging time.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan has reignited debates about the safety of Mumbai, despite the city being considered one of the safest in India. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that while such incidents are serious, they should not tarnish the overall safety image of Mumbai. The government is committed to enhancing security measures to ensure the city remains safe for all residents[Given Article].
