VASCO: A special raid under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) was conducted near the Bogmalo beach stretch by Pravinjay Pandit, Mamlatdar and Executive Magistrate of Mormugao Taluka, against business establishments violating anti-smoking regulations.
During the drive, fines were imposed on establishments that had failed to display mandatory “No Smoking” boards on their premises.
Circle Inspector D.D. Korgaokar along with police personnel assisted the Mamlatdar during the enforcement drive.
Officials stated that a total fine amounting to Rs 1,000 was collected from the violators during the operation.
