DABOLIM: The two-day “Dabolim Musical Waves 2026” music festival got off to a vibrant start on Saturday evening at Joggers Park, Chicalim, drawing large crowds for an energetic blend of live music, dance performances and cultural entertainment.
Organised by the Goa Tourism Department, the festival venue came alive with lights, music and performances as visitors from Vasco and nearby areas gathered in large numbers to witness the opening day celebrations. Families, youngsters and music lovers were seen enjoying the festive atmosphere at the open-air venue.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte was present for the flagging off of the event and said the festival was part of the state’s efforts to promote Goa as a vibrant tourism and entertainment destination beyond the traditional beach circuit. He said such events help create opportunities for local artists and also boost tourism activities in South Goa.
The highlight of the first evening was the performance by the popular and widely followed music group “Abhang Repost”, which drew loud cheers from the audience and kept the crowd engaged throughout the evening with energetic musical presentations. The live acts created a festive atmosphere at the venue, with many attendees singing along and enjoying the performances.
Apart from the musical concert, several dance acts and stage performances added colour to the inaugural day of the festival. Food stalls and entertainment zones also witnessed heavy footfall as visitors spent the evening enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Dabolim MLA and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said the festival was aimed at bringing quality entertainment and tourism-related activities closer to local residents while also attracting visitors to the region. He expressed satisfaction over the response received on the opening day and said more such cultural events should be organised in South Goa.
The festival will continue on Sunday evening from 6 pm onwards at Joggers Park, Chicalim, with more live performances lined up, including appearances by “The 7 Notes Band” and “Sonic The Band” along with other entertainment acts.
Police personnel and volunteers were deployed at the venue to regulate traffic and assist visitors during the event.
