SANCOALE: The development of a crematorium or a place for performing final rites is the priority for Sancoale, says Deputy Sarpanch Girish Pillai.
The newly elected Dy Sarpanch of Sancoale Panchayat Girish Pillai told this to Governor Sreedharan Pillai, who was on Thursday day’s visit to the taluka.
Pillai said that Sancoale Panchayat was densely populated, but no sites were available for final rites.
He said that places for final rites need to be developed as a top priority for the people of all religions living in the jurisdiction of Sancoale.
Deputy Sarpanch said that the Covid19 Pandemic taught people a lesson and made them realise how important a person’s final journey is.
“Many people died during the pandemic, and it is even worse when they have to travel all the way to Kharewado or Sada for the final rites,” he said.
He said the Sancoale Panchayat has the highest population, especially in Zuarinagar but the issue is they don’t have sites for final rites like a crematorium, cemetery and burial ground.
