KUSHAVATI: District Collector Egna Cleetus, IAS, chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee (DLC) to review claims submitted under the Forest Rights Act, 2006 from multiple talukas in the district.
The meeting considered a total of 97 claims received from Sub-Divisional Level Committees (SDLCs), including 33 from Dharbandora, 40 from Sanguem and 24 from Canacona talukas in Goa.
During the proceedings, the committee undertook a detailed review of each claim to ensure they met the criteria laid down under the Act. Officials also issued necessary directions to streamline the verification process and ensure timely disposal of pending applications.
Authorities emphasized the importance of adhering to due process while safeguarding the rights of eligible forest dwellers and communities.
The District Administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all valid claims are processed efficiently in accordance with the provisions of the law.
