MORJIM: Mandrem Police have registered a case of murder against four persons, including a property owner from Morjim and his workers, following the death of a 63-year-old tenant after an assault over a property dispute. The FIR, registered as Crime No. 101/2025 under Sections 103(1) and 61(2)(a) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, was lodged on the complaint of Arjun Chandrakant Gaude, a resident of Salvador do Mundo. According to police, on November 5, between 1 pm and 1.30 pm, at Survey No. 149/1 of Morjim, the accused persons — Ashok Kumar Nedurumali, owner of the property bearing Survey No. 156/3; Lokesh Puttaswamy, a supervisor from Bengaluru; Rohit Kumar Prajapati, a JCB operator from Jharkhand; and Viji Suppan, a cook and gardener from Tamil Nadu — acting in conspiracy and with common intention, assaulted the complainant’s uncle, Umakant Raghoba Khote, who was a tenant on the disputed property. Khote sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Community Health Centre at Tuem, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police said the assault stemmed from an ongoing property dispute. The FIR was registered after an enquiry into U.D. No. 46/2025 under Section 194 of the BNSS, following discussions with senior officers. Copies of the FIR have been submitted to the JMFC Pernem Court, and further investigation is in progress under the supervision of senior officials.
