PANAJI: Goa Forward today has written to State Election Commissioner questioning the hurried manner in which delimitation process for the panchayat polls are been carried out and have demanded to postpone process of delimitation till March 10.
“We have earlier seen how manipulation’s have taken place during Municipal Polls for which we had to go till Supreme Court and seek justice; delimitation process should be put on hold till 10th March: Goa Forward in its letter to SEC,” said GFP in a letter
GFP further The people of the State are currently waiting for the results of the Goa Assembly Elections 2022.
“The Election code of conduct is still in force. Amidst this, the State Election Commission has gone ahead with the process of delimitation for the upcoming Panchayat Election to be held In June 2022. We are wondering what is the need to push for this process delimitation at this time in such a hurried manner,” it said
GFP said that the State Election Commission expect the voters to go to the Mamlatdar to raise any objection to the delimitation. The SEC should have made available the facility to check the ward boundaries and raise any objection or suggestion at the panchayat itself.
“The term of the BJP government has ended, people have already casted their vote and have chosen who will form the next government,” party said
Therefore, any crucial decision such as delimitation of Panchayat wards must be done only after the assembly results are out on 10th March 2022 and demand that the State Election Commission be instructed to keep the process on hold till 10th March 2022.
