ALTHINO: Together with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Goa, students from Government Polytechnic, Panaji, organized a protest on campus to draw attention to a number of concerns impacting the student body.
Students express annoyance at what they consider to be the college administration’s lack of interest and demand quick fixes.
The current principal’s intermittent presence was cited by the students as the reason why a permanent principal is required.
Students have sent in several letters criticizing the principal’s handling of the situation, but the faculty has not responded, they claim. They draw attention to how often the principal is missing from work.
Problematic college schedules have drawn criticism, especially for individuals who commute from far away. Transportation problems are made worse by the restricted supply of college buses—there is just one available for the entire university.
Female students brought up the challenge of having insufficient transit alternatives and arriving home late.
They emphasized how the lack of a pad dispenser, which is seen to be necessary for female students, presents difficulties in case of emergencies and harassment.
Despite being charged an 800-rupee development fee, pupils bemoaned the lack of sufficient maintenance.
The purpose of this student-led demonstration is to bring attention to the urgent problems facing the college and to demand that the administration act quickly to find practical solutions.
