PONDA: BJP-backed Councilor Councilor Vishwanath Dalvi was elected today unopposed after his only rival candidate Bharat Purohit withdrew his candidature today. Vishwanath Dalvi thanked Bharat Purohit for supporting him. He thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik for their support.
Following his news of victory, his supporters took out his procession.
Bharat Purohit said following a request from BJP leaders including Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik he withdrew his candidature.
He said BJP leaders assured him to complete the work he listed, including repairs of the shop at Ponda Bus Stand, similarly clearing of age-old trees and steps at Khadpaband.
