PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant suggested that the vacant position in the Goa cabinet may be filled in the near future, raising expectations of an impending ministerial appointment after months of uncertainty.
Interacting with reporters in Porvorim, the Chief Minister did not disclose who was being considered for the post or when the announcement would be made. He stated that the media would be informed once the government reaches a final decision regarding the induction of a new cabinet minister.
The ministerial vacancy arose after the passing of former Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik on October 13, 2025. Since then, political discussions have continued over the possible inclusion of a new face in the state cabinet.
Sawant’s remarks come at a time when speculation surrounding a cabinet reshuffle or expansion has been gaining momentum within political circles in Goa.
While the ruling BJP has so far remained tight-lipped on the matter, political observers believe the selection of the next minister could influence internal party equations as well as regional and social representation ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in the state.
