PANAJI: The Goa Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, has demanded an apology from Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments about Hindus. Gandhi’s remarks in the Lok Sabha sparked outrage, with the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) condemning him for portraying Hindus as violent.
During the session, Gandhi took a swipe at the ruling BJP, claiming that those who identify as Hindus are continuously involved in “violence and hate”. These comments drew strong reactions from various quarters, including the Goa CM, who labelled the Congress as arrogant and condemned Gandhi’s remarks as a brazen insult to Hindus.
Additionally, the HJS called on Congress leaders to clarify their stance on their perception of Hindus, accusing the party of attempting to defame the Hindu community by introducing the concept of “saffron terrorism or Hindu terrorism”.
The controversy has put the spotlight on the right-wing outfit’s stance that the global Hindu community is recognized for its principles of universal peace and welfare, labelling Gandhi’s comments as an attempt to tarnish this reputation.
It’s clear that Gandhi’s comments have ignited a fierce debate, with demands for an apology and clarifications on the Congress’s stance on the Hindu community.
