PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) today questioned the silence of BJP MLAs, including those eight legislators who had defected from Congress, on the crucial and much-debated Mhadei river diversion issue.
“I want to ask these 8 MLAs who have defected. They are not talking on Mhadei, even they are not speaking in assembly because they are puppets like CM Sawant,” said GPCC President Amit Patkar.
He further said that these 8 MLAs are gone to BJP only for Money, and I allege that Adani only must have given the Money.
“In the past, Congress had made it amply clear that Mhadei is the lifeline of Goa, and there will be no compromise on Mhade as far as Congress is concerned,” he added.
Patkar pointed out that Sawant had declared on December 30 that he would write to the Prime Minister demanding the withdrawal of the approval given to the detailed project report (DPR) of the Kalasa-Bhandura project.
“What happened to that letter. Why are you meeting the home minister and not the Prime Minister?” said Patkar.
Speaking on Adani, Patkar said that the LIC and SBI are invested heavily in Adani Group companies, which the Congress and other Opposition parties are alleging is a scam and jeopardizes the interest of citizens who have invested hard-earned Money in these two State-owned financial institutions.
