PANAJI: The Goa Electricity Department has submitted a proposal for a power tariff hike under the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) framework, aiming for an overall increase of 5.95% across all categories for the fiscal year 2025–26.
Subsequent hikes of 5.64% and 4.88% are planned for FY 2026–27 and FY 2027–28, respectively, while no hikes are being proposed for the years FY 2028–29 and FY 2029–30.
For domestic consumers, the proposed tariff adjustment includes an increase of Rs 0.60 per kW/month in fixed charges, along with an energy charge hike ranging from Rs 0.06 to Rs 0.35 per kWh.
The department estimates a revenue shortfall of Rs 408.76 crore for FY 2025–26, with projected revenues of Rs 3,081.97 crore, falling short of the required Rs 3,490.73 crore.
Two petitions have been filed for approval—the first for the Business Plan for the 4th MYT Control Period (FY 2025–30), and the second for the true-up of FY 2023–24 and tariff determination.
Both petitions are available for review on the official websites of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) and the Goa Electricity Department.
The public has been invited to submit objections or suggestions within 21 days, ahead of the scheduled public hearing on May 9, 2025, at 10 AM at the Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji.
