PORVORIM: Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai strongly criticized Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte’s reply on the Floor of the House that failed to respond to the cut motions moved by the opposition on various issues like illegal activities and protection to traditional beach shack operators and others involved in tourism business.
Speaking to reporters post session on Tuesday night, Sardesai also clarified that his world tour, as pointed out by the Minister, was using his personal funds and not government sponsored.
“What tourism minister spoke in House was a lecture and not replies to the cut motion moved by us. He is a good Auditor,” Sardesai said.
He pointed out that while Minister speaks about religious tourism, his reply has no mentioned about developing tourism circuit in Ponda that houses some of the world famous temples.
As Minister clarified that the government has no intention to bring in model shack policy to promote non Goans to venture I to business, Sardesai said that Khaunte was no record last Budget session on the same.
He Reiterated that the beach cleaning is a major scam wherein over Rs 29 cr are given to the agency manning beaches in last five years.
The MLA also pointed out failures of tourism dept to provide facilities and support to scuba diving activities at Vasco.
