PANAJI: As Congress seems in no mood to go for a pre-poll alliance for 2022 elections, at this junction, Goa Forward Party(GFP) President Vijai Sardesai said that the party has suspended all talks of alliance with Indian National Congress (INC).
Sardesai’s statement came after All India Congress Committee election observer for Goa P Chidambaram ruled out any talks on alliance for now. Chidambaram, who has been visiting Goa every week, has been repeatedly urging it’s workers to be prepared to fight elections in all 40 constituencies.
Anguished over the attitude of the Congress leaders, Sardesai pointed out that the elections are due in next four to five months and not in 2027.
“Any decision on alliance has to be taken now. For now we are suspending all talks with Congress on alliance. Our silence in not raising the misdeed of Goa Congress should not be mistaken for GFP being complacent, we will highlight the shortcomings of Congress,” Sardesai said.
Sardesai, however, expressed confidence that the like-minded political leaders will join hands against BJP and others.
