PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), under the leadership of its president Girish Chodankar, has appointed seven new Block Congress presidents as part of its efforts to strengthen the party’s organisational structure and expand its grassroots presence across Goa.
As per the order issued by Chodankar on October 8, the following appointments have been made:
1. **Harichandra Mankar** – Valpoi
2. **Suryakant P. Gawade** – Sankhali
3. **Anand Baidkar** – Mapusa
4. **Edwin Benny Vaz** – St. Cruz
5. **Sanjay Narayan Desai** – Curchorem
6. **Savio Gomes** – Cuncolim
7. **Yogesh Nagvekar** – Fatorda
The appointments are aimed at strengthening the Congress organisation at the block level and improving coordination among party workers. The newly appointed presidents are expected to focus on expanding public outreach, addressing local issues and mobilising people on matters concerning Goa and its residents.
The GPCC has been focusing on empowering grassroots leadership and strengthening the party’s presence across constituencies as part of its broader organisational revival efforts. The latest appointments are intended to build a united and active team capable of taking up public concerns and safeguarding Goa’s identity, democratic values and the interests of its people.
