“Government reiterates its commitment to provide 5000 employment opportunities in Government sector and 5000 in the private sector for the youth in the State in the coming days. Government lays thrust on encouraging skill development,” said Sawant
He further said that Government has laid due focus on upgrading skills across ITIs in the State, Dr. Sawant said and pointed out that skilled manpower will be required in every sector.
“The efforts of the Government are proving fruitful with an increase of 25% in Goan entrepreneurship,” he added
He said that one-year work experience would be made “compulsory” for recruitment in state government departments.
He said fresh candidates would not be taken directly into government service. Aspirants would have to get experience by working in the private sector before applying for government jobs.
Such a practice would help the government get skilled manpower, said the chief minister.
The CM said necessary amendments would be made in Recruitment Rules (RRs) to ensure only suitable candidates are selected for vacant posts.
“The Goa government will take all efforts to create 20,000 employment in the private sector in the next two years. Youth will not need to leave the state in search of employment as opportunities would be created here itself,” Sawant said in the House.
The CM said his government was taking efforts to skill the youth, though some courses had not got a good response.
He also said minimum wages in the state would be reviewed so that labourers get higher remuneration.
