PANAJI: Goa is redefining its identity beyond being a global tourist destination, stepping confidently into the digital era with the launch of the #EmpoweredInGoa campaign. Introduced by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C), the initiative highlights how technology and innovation are enabling Goans to unlock their full potential in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
IT and Communications Minister Rohan Khaunte said the campaign underscores Goa’s commitment to people-driven progress. He noted that empowerment in Goa goes beyond showcasing digital advancements—it focuses on creating real opportunities for citizens to learn, build, and contribute to the State’s digital transformation.
The #EmpoweredInGoa campaign showcases how technology is uplifting lives across sectors. From supporting startups and promoting digital literacy to simplifying governance and improving connectivity, the movement reflects Goa’s mission to ensure that every citizen benefits from the State’s growth.
Under DITE&C’s leadership, Goa’s IT policy has made it easier for entrepreneurs to establish and expand businesses, offering both infrastructural and financial incentives. Initiatives like Har Ghar Fibre, providing high-speed internet to households, and Gramin Mitra, which brings government services closer to senior citizens, are helping bridge digital divides. Free Wi-Fi hotspots across the State further enhance accessibility.
DITE&C Director Kabir Shirgaonkar highlighted that empowerment begins with equal access to knowledge and technology. Programs such as the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana (MDSY), IT Knowledge Centres, and the Free Laptop Distribution Scheme for Meritorious SC/ST Students are ensuring that digital inclusion reaches even the most remote communities.
Goa’s startup ecosystem is also gaining momentum through the Goa Startup Policy 2025, which offers funding, infrastructure, and training to entrepreneurs. Complementary initiatives like the Goa Open Innovation Challenge 2025 and the upcoming Goa Startup Accelerator aim to nurture new ventures and scale innovation.
As Goa positions itself as India’s Creative Capital, the #EmpoweredInGoa movement represents a collective effort to make technology and innovation central to everyday life, reaffirming that empowerment in Goa is a shared, inclusive journey.
