VASCO: The Directorate of Health Services under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), in collaboration with Ayushman Arogya Mandir – Urban Primary Health Centre Vasco and Goa Shipyard Limited, organised a National Dengue Day awareness programme on Friday at the Goa Shipyard auditorium in Vasco.
The programme was held under the theme “Community Participation for Dengue Control: Check, Clean, Cover” with the objective of spreading awareness on dengue prevention and encouraging citizens to actively participate in keeping surroundings free from mosquito breeding.
Chairman and Managing Director of Goa Shipyard Limited, Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, attended the event as chief guest, while Edna Molina Dias e Rane was the guest of honour.
Also present for the programme were Dr Rupa Naik, Dr Kalpana Mahatme and Dr Rajendra Kanekar, along with other dignitaries.
Health officials stated that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to create awareness about vector-borne diseases and sensitise the public on maintaining hygiene and eliminating stagnant water sources to prevent dengue outbreaks.
