PANAJI: A new library policy will shortly be unveiled by the state, according to Govind Gaude, Minister of Art and Culture. “A library policy is on the horizon. It’s nearing completion, and after the Cabinet gives its blessing, we’ll put it into action. In response to requests pertaining to the Art & Culture department, he said, “It will be a unique initiative in India’s library movement.”
Additionally, he stated that by March 2025, 2 lakh books and pages will have been digitalized, out of the 47,000 volumes that have already been digitalized.
“To encourage reading, 78 libraries will be built throughout the State, bringing books to every part of Goa. Additionally, mobile libraries will be established to serve Goa’s interior districts, which would help students and those getting ready for competitive exams,” he continued.
In response to reports of broken air conditioners at the central library, the minister said that four bids failed to draw in any suppliers or contractors.
Additionally, he promised that all of the state’s Ravindra Bhavans will be renovated.
Earlier in the discussion, GFP MLA Vijai Sardesai made the demand that the Art & Culture Department oversee cultural festivals rather than the Tourism Department, which can only help by marketing these events.
