PANAJI: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has issued a Stop Work Notice to M/s Goan Hotels & Realty Pvt. Ltd. over alleged illegal construction activity at Bambolim beach. The action pertains to the reported building of an unauthorized retaining wall and other works in the beach and adjoining areas.
According to the department, the decision follows site inspections and reports confirming the ongoing construction in the coastal zone. The company has been directed to immediately halt all work related to the retaining wall and maintain status quo until further orders from the Tourism Department.
Additionally, the firm has been asked to show cause why action should not be taken against it for carrying out the said works in a beach area, which the department described as a nuisance under provisions of The Goa Tourist Places Protection and Maintenance Act, 2001.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting the state’s coastal and natural assets, the Tourism Department emphasized that all tourism-related or developmental activities must strictly comply with the Goa Tourist Places Protection and Maintenance Act, 2001 and other relevant regulations.
Officials stated that the department will continue to monitor such activities to ensure responsible and lawful development across all tourism zones in Goa.
