PANAJI: Together for Panaji Association has said expressed fear that any stoppage of undergoing works in Panaji for G20 summit will flood the city during monsoons.
“It has been brought to our notice through the media that the various works undertaken in the city will be paused in the month of March until the conclusion of the G20 summit,” said Together for Panaji Association in a presss release here.
TFPA would like to highlight that the residents of Panaji have endured the hardships resulting from the constant digging in the city with the hope that they will have better roads and a better drainage system in the coming months.
“With the recent instruction from the Government to suspend the works, it is easy to anticipate that the works will continue for much longer than planned. During the Monsoons, the city will likely see tremendous flooding due to incomplete works,” TFPA said.
“We urge the Government to select an alternate venue for the event and spare the city an elongated work zone experience. Let the work be completed as planned without hindrance so that the people can move around freely,” it added.
