In 2018, the Prison’s Committee recommended Naik’s furlough for 21 days with a condition to execute a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and surety in the like amount giving cash or otherwise.
However, after initial consent, his local surety reportedly backed out.

He used to befriend and sexually abuse his victims and then rob them of their gold and kill them mostly by strangulating them with their dupattas.
His heinous crimes came to light in 2009 as he was arrested by Ponda Police for allegedly raping his friend’s wife from Shiroda.
