MARGAO: Margao Town Police are investigating a chain-snatching case after an unidentified scooter rider allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman near Costa Factory, Aquem, Margao.
According to the complaint filed by Sharon Fernandes E Menezes, a resident of Aquem Alto, the incident occurred on September 2, 2026, at around 8.30 am.
Police said an unknown accused, riding a scooter and wearing a helmet with his face covered, approached the woman near Costa Factory.
The rider allegedly snatched her gold chain weighing approximately 10 grams, along with a cross and medal, from her neck before fleeing from the spot.
The stolen ornaments are collectively valued at approximately ₹1.90 lakh.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Subhash Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station.
