PONDA: Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tavadkar urged the tribal community members to contribute to the upliftment of tribals in Goa. He said the tribal community members should dream of making every tribal an Atmanirbhar Adivasi in the next five to seven years.
He said tribals should forget internal fights and unitedly achieve their goal.
He was speaking on the occasion of the anniversary day celebration of Gomantak Goud Maratha Samaj.
On occasion, Speaker of Goa Assembly Ramesh Tavadkar was felicitated at the hands of former MLA Pandurang Marcaikar in the presence of Savordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar, former MLA Prasad Gaonkar.
There was demand from the Tribal community for reservation of tribals in the Assembly Election.
“If all over India they have a reservation, then why is it not in Goa?” asked former MLA Prasad Gaonkar.
Prabhakar Dage said that tribals were original settlers and contributed a lot to the development of Goa.
The tribals in India also contributed to the freedom struggle in India. There are books of tribal history and their sacrifice for freedom struggle.
On occasion, meritorious students and doctors from Samaj were felicitated.
