PANAJI: The Government of Goa has appointed administrators for the Margao, Mormugao and Mapusa Municipal Councils after the tenure of the elected councils ended on May 26, 2026.
The appointments were made by the Department of Urban Development (Municipal Administration) in view of the forthcoming municipal elections and based on the proposal approved by the State Election Commission under the Goa Municipalities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026.
As per the order, Srinet Kothwale, Additional Collector-I, South Goa, has been appointed as Administrator for Margao Municipal Council, Jayant Tari, Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, has been assigned charge of Mormugao Municipal Council, while Fiona Cardozo, Additional Director of Panchayat-I, will serve as Administrator for Mapusa Municipal Council.
The officers will take charge from May 27, 2026, in addition to their existing duties, until further orders.
