PANAJI: Based on the suggestions of the Advisory Committee that conducts inspections of Pollution Under Control (PUC) Centers around the State, the State government has modified the regulations and prices for these facilities.
The Letter of Authority (LoA) for running PUC Centers will now be valid for three years instead of one, with renewal fees of Rs 15,000 being kept the same. The updated criteria will take effect on April 1, 2025, according to the Department of Transport’s announcement.
In order to run and operate PUC Centers, operators must make sure that at least one employee has a minimum qualification in either ITI (Motor Mechanic/Diesel Mechanic/Mechanic-Motor Vehicle) or Diploma (Mechanical/Automobile/Production/Environmental/Chemical Engineering).
The updated PUC certificate fee schedule has been established, and the cost for heavy motor vehicles is Rs 300.
The fees for light motor vehicles differ according to the category; non-commercial cars cost Rs 140, while commercial vehicles cost Rs 200. In the same way, the cost for two-wheelers and three-wheelers is Rs 100 for non-commercial vehicles and Rs 160 for commercial ones.
According to the government, the goal is to improve service quality and environmental compliance while streamlining PUC Center operations.
