CANACONA: After intervention of AICC General Secretary (Organization) in the backdrop of the alleged controversial suspension of the five senior Congress Office bearers, the GPCC President Amit Patkar has revoked the suspension on Monday.
It may be recalled that Janardhan Bhandari, Pradeep Naik, Khemlo Sawant, Mahesh Mhamre and Glen Cabral were suspended from the Congress party in an order issued by GPCC President Amit Patkar.
In his first reaction, Bhandari informed, “I am happy and relieved that the unjust suspension stands revoked. We are ready to work for the party in whatever position the party wants us to work. My work is wellknown and often endorsed by the central leadership. I will fight for the party with the opposition in the same vigor I have been doing for the upliftment of the party graph”.
Congress workers feel it was a sad chapter in the history of Congress when 5 loyal leaders were suspended from the Congress Party.
Everyone in Congress, leader, workers and supporters were very sad by this incident and this suspension episode affected the Party negatively.
As Janaradhan Bhandari and other suspended leaders were on forefront in agitations, protest, morchas, gheraos to Government officers, Congress Party’s agitational works came to standstill and even the general public raised questions for suspension of Janardhan Bhandari and others. Even local newspapers wrote editorials asking why Janardhan Bhandari and others were suspended, stated a jointly issued press note by and in the name of “True Congressmen”.
The press note further adds, “Next Parliament elections are scheduled in 2024 and when other Political Parties work with full swing to strengthen their organizations, this suspension of hardcore, loyal, cadre-based leaders would have been a setback to the Congress.
Due to strong reaction from Congress workers, the general Goan public, Electronic-Print Media, AICC and top Congress Leaders like the National President of Congress immediately intervened in the matter. Even Rahul Gandhiji during his visit to Goa inquired about this suspension and assured to find a solution to this unwanted incident/situation.
As the AICC and top leaders properly gauged the situation and sentiments of the Party leaders/workers and decided to revoke the suspension of these 5 leaders to strengthen Party organization. Today AICC & GPCC have officially revoked the suspension of these 5 leaders and Janardhan Bhandari and other leaders are officially back in their Party, their home. We hope all will keep this black chapter aside, will forget everything, will forgive and will work again sincerely to strengthen the Congress Party. We welcome Janardhan Bhandari and others and hope our Congress Party will prosper again and will occupy the vacuum of the main opposition Party in the State due to its work’, asserts True Congressmen.
