VASCO: Stating that the new amendment is to regularise the illegal buildings, the Goenchea Ramponkarancho Ekvott (GRE) has demanded immediate withdrawal of the new Amendments to the Goa Land Development & Building Construction Regulations, 2010.
GRE General secretary Olencio Simoes said the new Amendments are brought to regularize illegal multi-dwelling units.
He slammed the Chief Town Planner and TCP department, saying the same TCP failed to regularize the traditional coastal dweller’s houses like kharvi, kunbi, Gavda samaj, etc., under the Coastal regulation zone, which was established in 1991.
“TCP will Regularize all unauthorized construction like flats, buildings, resorts, open-air sports, Golf course, film city, film studio, industry etc. having an area of more than 500 square meters, and that too without even providing the sufficient document,” he said in a release here.
He stated that the traditional coastal dweller’s communities have been suffering for 30 years as the concerned department doesn’t even allow them to repair their houses which is complete hypocrisy.” said Simoes.
“GRE demands that the new Amendments to the Goa Land Development & Building Construction Regulations, 2010 should be immediately withdrawn as this amendment will lead to more concretization, destruction of open spaces, environment and will further lead to more illegal construction/structure as there will be no fear of law to the illegalities in the near future,” said Simoes.
He said the government should first regularize and bring necessary amendments so that the traditional coastal dwellers communities living near coastal and inland areas of Goa.
