New Delhi:
In a dramatic turn of events, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Congress of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to undermine its chances in the upcoming Delhi elections. This allegation has sparked a fierce backlash from the AAP, with the party considering drastic measures, including expelling the Congress from the INDIA bloc.
The tension between the AAP and Congress escalated after the Delhi Congress launched a scathing attack on AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of “misleading and deceiving” the public with promises of “non-existent” welfare schemes. This move has infuriated the AAP, with Delhi Chief Minister Atishi asserting that if the National Congress is not involved in this conspiracy, it should take immediate action against its Delhi leaders.
Atishi’s statement underscores the AAP’s growing frustration with what it perceives as a coordinated effort by the Congress and BJP to discredit its leadership. “If National Congress is not involved in Delhi Congress’ conspiracy, then they should take action against their Delhi leaders,” she emphasized.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh further amplified this sentiment, stating that the party demands action against Congress leader Ajay Maken for labeling Kejriwal “anti-national.” Singh warned that if such action is not taken, the AAP will consult other allies within the INDIA bloc to remove the Congress from the alliance. This potential move could significantly impact the unity of the opposition ahead of the crucial Delhi elections.
The rift between the AAP and Congress is particularly significant given their recent history of alliances and the impending electoral battle. The AAP’s decision to contest the Delhi assembly polls independently, coupled with the Congress’s criticism of AAP’s governance, has set the stage for a three-cornered contest that could redefine the political landscape of Delhi.
