PANAJI: TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane urged the MLAs to comprehend and consider the Regional Plan, although he remained reticent.
While discussing the TCP demands, several MLAs called for restrictions on the purchases of land by outsiders, which has increased land rates and decreased property values.
“Whether or not to establish a regional plan is the question. Here government has gone on the RP; I’m trying to be clear. Once a consultant is hired, they start using technologies like large roadways and other things that don’t meet our idea of the State, which causes issues.
Refusing to clearly respond to calls for new RP in Goa, he stated, “We have to understand, sit down, and deliberate what is needed for Goa.”
The minister also gave the House the assurance that all of the MLAs’ concerns had been noticed and would be taken into consideration.
GFP MLA Vijai Sardesai pressed for the necessity of the Regional Plan throughout the debate, claiming that uncontrolled development had resulted from its absence. An effective regional plan is necessary. Even though he might not like it, Ryan must put it into practice. Begin with the taluka-wise plans, he continued.
Venzy Veigas, an AAP MLA, supported the plan as well, highlighting how crucial public confidence and consultation are. The public must be involved by the government in the Plan’s writing process, regardless of whether it’s RP 2031, 2041, or 2051. In order for the average Goan to afford to buy, land costs should be lowered,” he added
The minister responded by emphasizing that Kirloskar was the one who created the sole all-inclusive regional plan. “The Regional Plan has always been contentious, but this is the first time a consultant has been hired for the project. The minister continued, “We have also urged them to help us with PDAs.
The minister gave the House assurances on purported unplanned growth in Pomburpa, saying that the village would be declared a no-development zone and that a notice forbidding any hill cutting would be issued shortly. “Pomburpa Hill has a severe gradient… It will be marked as an area not to be developed. The slopes should not be cleared for development,” he declared.
Rane said that no licenses were given by any of his departments about the widely circulated images of hill cutting in Priol and that a formal complaint has been filed against the violators.
Prior to this, the Leader of the Opposition, Yuri Alemao, claimed that vast land conversions had occurred in command and catchment regions under the guise of zone corrections.
